I Couldn’t Find an Effective Treatment for My Depression

I have been on a roller coaster. I have a career and two children. I felt like I was at the end of my rope. I could not live another day. I was at the doctor who has been treating me for a while. They were at the point where they did not know what else to try. I needed to find a way to function, so that is when my doctor gave me the GeneSight test.

Since I had tried all kinds of therapy, hospitalization, medication combinations, etc., I thought this would not work either. I did the GeneSight test in January and had the results in a few days.

We learned some medications that I was taking were in were in the red category, so my doctor switched me to medications in the green. By the end of four months I was feeling better than I had felt in years.

I am so thankful. I am participating in life again and my mind is clear. I feel confident in my doctor’s care again. I would tell others if they have absolutely any questions or concerns about how they are being treated and if it is not working to have the GeneSight test.

This story is one patient’s personal experience. Other patients may not have the same experience or outcome. Do not make any changes to your current medications or dosing without consulting your healthcare provider.

The GeneSight test must be ordered by and used only in consultation with a healthcare provider who can prescribe medications. As with all genetic tests, the GeneSight test results have limitations and do not constitute medical advice. The test results are designed to be just one part of a larger, complete patient assessment, which would include proper diagnosis and consideration of your medical history, other medications you may be taking, your family history, and other factors.
