For Patients

It’s time to finally feel like yourself again.

If you are struggling with medications for mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, or ADHD, you are not alone.

We know the process of finding medication that works can be frustrating, time-consuming and debilitating.

Fewer than 50% of individuals with depression respond to their first medication.

Is the GeneSight test right for you?

  • Has a medication failed you in the past?
  • Is your current medication not working?
  • Does your medication cause unwanted side effects?

What is the GeneSight® Psychotropic test?

The GeneSight Psychotropic test is a genetic test that shows your provider how your genes may affect medication outcomes. The GeneSight test may reveal which medications to treat depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other mental health conditions require dose adjustments, be less likely to work, or have an increased risk of side effects based on your DNA.

The test is a simple cheek swab taken in your healthcare provider’s office or can be sent by your doctor to be taken in the convenience of your home.

Cost shouldn’t be a barrier to your mental wellness.

Our goal is to make the GeneSight test affordable and accessible to patients. Insurance can be complicated, and we want you to feel comfortable knowing what you’ll owe.

We will bill your insurance for the cost of the GeneSight test:

Medicare (Part B) Covered Tests $0 out of pocket cost for your patient
Medicaid Typically, $0 out of pocket cost
Medicare Advantage Covered Tests Patient may be expected to cover a portion of the cost (typically $330 or less)

The report classifies over 60 mental health medications into four categories:
green Use as Directed
yellowModerate Gene-Drug Interaction
redSignificant Gene-Drug Interaction
grayNo Proven Genetic Markers

Your provider will review the results as a part of your overall exam to help inform your unique treatment plan.

Your sample is handled with care.

Generally, samples are destroyed within 60 days of receipt, however, the samples may be destroyed at any time after the testing is completed upon request.

The process is a simple cheek swab that will be placed in a paper envelope. This drying process ensures the samples remain stable by preventing microbial growth and breakdown of DNA.
