My name is Crystal Nelson.

I am the owner and psychiatrist of Blueprint Psychiatry here in Newnan, Georgia. The way that I see it is mental health is the base of all health.

So it is the base of all your physical health as well. So no one is going to be well if you don’t address what they eat, their environment, if you don’t address the biology and address the psychological. A lot of times by the time patients come to me, they have not even had an adequate trial on a medication that was appropriate for them. They’ve spent years trying medications that may not even have worked.

The GeneSight test will help to narrow down that list that should all ideally work for the treatment of depression or anxiety by looking specifically at that individual. The GeneSight test is looking at DNA that is unique as it comes for all of us. That DNA is gonna dictate whether or not this medication is going to be efficiently processed in the body or it’s not. That sixty four medications may be that are four that are really gonna even help this patient get better.

I started to see outcomes in my practice. I started to get clients enter remission faster, getting clients into remission with one or two medications where they had before been on six seven, eight medications.

The report was very simple. It became the standard of let me gather all of the information, my history, my physical, my GeneSight test and then make my decisions for my clients and my practice.

This story is one clinician’s personal experience. Other experiences may vary.

As with all genetic tests, the GeneSight test results have limitations and do not constitute medical advice. The test results are designed to be just one part of a larger, complete patient assessment, which would include proper diagnosis and consideration of medical history, other medications being taken, family history, and other factors.
