What is the GeneSight test?
GeneSight Psychotropic is a pharmacogenomic test which means that it analyzes how your genes may affect medication outcomes. The GeneSight test analyzes clinically important genetic variations in your DNA. Results can inform your healthcare provider about how you may break down or respond to certain medications commonly prescribed to treat depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other psychiatric conditions.
The GeneSight test must be ordered by your healthcare provider or nurse practitioner. The test is a simple cheek swab taken in your healthcare provider’s office or can be sent by your healthcare provider to be taken in the convenience of your home. Learn More

Cost Shouldn’t Be a Barrier
If you have insurance, we will bill your insurance for the cost of the GeneSight test. Some insurance plans will cover the cost though this can vary.

The GeneSight® Promise
If you decide to use your insurance and we determine that your cost will exceed $330, we will contact you before processing the test and before billing you to make sure you would like to proceed.
Reduced Self-Pay Option
All patients are eligible for the reduced self-pay option of $330. Self-Pay may be the most affordable option for patients whose out-of-pocket cost is estimated to be higher than $330, for those whose insurance does not cover the GeneSight test, or for those without insurance.

The GeneSight test report provides information about which medications may require dose adjustments, be less likely to work, or have an increased risk of side effects based on your genetic information.
The report also includes information on how a patient’s smoking status may affect their body’s metabolism of certain medications. The GeneSight results do not provide information on disease diagnosis, medication allergies, drug-drug interactions, or which medications will work best.

How does it work?
The GeneSight test is administered by your healthcare provider in their office.
Step 1
Your clinician collects a DNA sample by painlessly swabbing the inside of your cheek OR you can collect the sample at home using our patient collection kit.
Step 2
The sample is sent to our lab for analysis.
Step 3
After we receive your sample, your healthcare provider will typically get test results in about 2 days.
Step 4
Your clinician can contact our Medical Affairs team for a consultation. Your clinician can then review the results with you on your next visit.
