I have had issues with depression for many years now. I was in the Air Force for five years and the military doctors would not consider my objections with the medications they would prescribe to me. They were constantly switching my medications. With all of the poor results from these medication trials I just stopped taking my medications altogether.

My primary care physician referred me to a specialist to get the GeneSight test. The test was easy. I just had to have my cheek swabbed and my doctor had the results back within a week.

After the test my doctor changing my medication I feel good now. I wake up happy and I don’t feel depressed everyday. Now I am always a really happy person. I would tell everyone in the world and everyone I know to get the test!

This story is one patient’s personal experience. Other patients may not have the same experience or outcome. Do not make any changes to your current medications or dosing without consulting your healthcare provider.

The GeneSight test must be ordered by and used only in consultation with a healthcare provider who can prescribe medications. As with all genetic tests, the GeneSight test results have limitations and do not constitute medical advice. The test results are designed to be just one part of a larger, complete patient assessment, which would include proper diagnosis and consideration of your medical history, other medications you may be taking, your family history, and other factors.
