A lot of my patients were at the crux of a baby coming, and mama is struggling. And I don’t have a lot of time to play around with what might work for you. My name is Elizabeth Johnson. I’m a nurse practitioner, boarded in family medicine, and perinatal mental health. GeneSight is imperative to me as a clinician, but also a game changer to the patient. When I’m working with a patient often they’ve either been and failed on numerous medications, and they are sick of feeling like a guinea pig.

GeneSight offers genetic testing that gives me a little bit more of a roadway to making a choice. I’m gonna bring science behind my medical decision. It creates a pathway that can expedite good care and start to provide a little bit less risk of failure of a drug or side effect of a drug. My rule of thumb with GeneSight is I notify every patient I see that it’s out there. If I was the patient, I’d wanna know what science is available at my fingertips. And when you are anxious to depressed, lost, any light bulb, any hope, is such a blessing to them in that moment.

This story is one clinician’s personal experience. Other experiences may vary.

As with all genetic tests, the GeneSight test results have limitations and do not constitute medical advice. The test results are designed to be just one part of a larger, complete patient assessment, which would include proper diagnosis and consideration of medical history, other medications being taken, family history, and other factors.

If you are a healthcare provider and interested in learning more about the GeneSight test, please contact us at 855.891.9415. If you are a patient, please talk with your doctor to see if the GeneSight test may be helpful.
