Being a psychiatric provider, by the time a patient reaches our door, they’ve often been on one medication at this point. All clinicians, we all know the basis. We’ve taken boards, multiple exams to prove we know this data and information.

To me, it was more refreshing to be able to be more precise with GeneSight when medicine is not precise.

My name is Ashlea Brewer, and I’m a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner in Fayetteville, Arkansas at a private practice called Dauntless Psychiatry.

Patients that come in with mental health or psychiatric conditions come in and we manage their psychiatric meds in addition to, you know, naturally providing psycho therapy with it and education as well. In the initial visit, I want them to be able to tell me their story and and what brought them in and what are their goals for treatment and and what are they wanting help with. And that ultimately becomes my goal at the end, right, of identifying what are their needs and how can I address this and help them to live a nice quality of life? I like GeneSight because it allows me to individualize patient treatment plans, get patients feeling better in a more efficient time, less medication, less side effects, better outcomes.

I’ve had a patient that came to me suspecting the medication, the antidepressant they were on wasn’t helping at all, and was asking specifically at the first visit for help and GeneSight.

For that first follow-up to review her GeneSight results, the first thing she said was, oh my gosh. Thank you so much. I already feel so much better. It’s been awesome to see the information and how much better I have made somebody that I met in crisis to where they are five years later after GeneSight, you know, and having that to get them to the most, you know, personalized plan of care.
