I’m Kelly R. and I am a guitarist. I am a teacher and I am a life coach. I’ve played over 4,000 shows and recorded 16 CDs, so music has been my life.

Depression has definitely been a problem, frustration, that kind of hopelessness. It was like, you know, it’s so hard to be grounded, so hard still to organize and there was this level of just not being realistic about things. I could not continue to drive another million miles and things began to unravel on a number of levels and I decided to see a therapist someone recommended and her first question after our first session was “Have you ever been diagnosed for bipolar?”

It’s like man, I don’t want to go on medication, I’m already on one. But I thought, you know, I’d heard about GeneSight. I thought, so that testing is available, although I was curious. So, I said I’m happy to be evaluated. So, he took a simple swab, put it in a bag and set it off.

Since being on medication I can honestly say that I’m happy. I’m happy. I’m easy to get along with by comparison. I’m still creative. I’m more creative, I think. My thoughts are organized. My time is more organized.

If you are struggling and if you need some form of medication that can help, why not get it dialed in?

My life has changed. There is a happy ending to this long road. So yeah, peace.

This story is one patient’s personal experience. Other patients may not have the same experience or outcome. Do not make any changes to your current medications or dosing without consulting your healthcare provider.

The GeneSight test must be ordered by and used only in consultation with a healthcare provider who can prescribe medications. As with all genetic tests, the GeneSight test results have limitations and do not constitute medical advice. The test results are designed to be just one part of a larger, complete patient assessment, which would include proper diagnosis and consideration of your medical history, other medications you may be taking, your family history, and other factors.

If you are a healthcare provider and interested in learning more about the GeneSight test, please contact us at 855.891.9415. If you are a patient, please talk with your doctor to see if the GeneSight test may be helpful.
