What is the GeneSight test?

The GeneSight test is a genetic test that may provide insight to your healthcare provider about how your body may metabolize or respond to certain medications commonly prescribed to treat depression, anxiety, ADHD and other psychiatric conditions.

Is the GeneSight test proven?

Over 1 million people have taken the GeneSight test, and the test has been ordered by more than 25,000 healthcare professionals. The GeneSight Psychotropic test is the only psychiatric pharmacogenomic test backed by extensive research from 7 studies published in peer-reviewed journals.

Does insurance cover the GeneSight test?

Some government and commercial insurance companies cover the GeneSight Psychotropic test. Please refer to our Cost page for further details or contact our Customer Service team at info@genesight.com or 866.757.9204 for questions about your specific coverage options.

What’s the process for taking a GeneSight test?

The process is easy. Your healthcare provider orders the test and DNA samples are collected either by you in your home, or by your clinician in the office or clinic. A simple cheek swab is used to collect the samples which are then sent to our laboratory. We then analyze it and share test results with your healthcare provider within two business days.

We take privacy and security very seriously. That’s why we analyze all GeneSight Psychotropic and GeneSight MTHFR tests at our own accredited lab, so we can ensure the quality and security of your test. Your genetic information is private and protected through various federal laws including HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) and GINA (Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act) that ensure the security of your personal and genetic information.

All samples are destroyed within 60 days of processing. Patients can also request to have their samples destroyed immediately following analysis.
