It’s no surprise that a large and increasing number of older Americans are prime candidates for new ways to help treat their mental health needs, including pharmacologic treatments. An estimated 20% of people aged 55 and older experience some type of mental health concern,1 with major depressive disorder being the most prevalent2 and suicide rates being the highest among the elderly.3
