Since I was a kid I have suffered from depression and anxiety. I started seeing my psychiatrist in 1990 and started taking medications in 1995. I have tried eight different medications through the years — including supplements. Taking the GeneSight test was very simple. The doctor had the collection packages in her office. The doctor said the test was new for them. The testing confirmed that my doctor had put me on a medication that would actually work and confirmed that the medication which I had been on before was not the best fit. I also learned from the MTHFR report that I needed a supplement. It has been great to have a customized medication program. I previously had weight gain from the wrong medications – at one point up to 40 pounds. That was physically and mentally hard. It was important to me that I not gain any more weight with any new medication. There were no negatives associated with the GeneSight test. At first I wondered about costs. That has worked out fine with the GeneSight Financial Assistance Program. GeneSight is such a cool advancement in medicine. If this is something you have available to you, why rely on trial and error?
