MASON A regional biomedical job fair is expected to bring hundreds of job-seekers to Warren County Thursday.
Trade group BioOhio will hold its eighth annual BioMedical & Pharmaceutical career fair from 1-5 p.m. at the Mason Municipal Building, 6000 Mason-Montgomery Road.
The event, now in its second year in Mason, is held in partnership with the city of Mason and Assurex Health, the fast-growing Mason biohealth company, which analyzes the genes that affect responses to specific antidepressant, antipsychotic, ADHD and pain medications.
The biohealth sector has been gaining strength in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.
REDI Cincinnati, the region’s economic development arm, has identified biohealth as one of six key sectors in which to attract new and expanding businesses.
Mason officials have said the city has adopted an aggressive approach toward encouraging new business investment, specifically a high-tech corridor along Interstate 71 north of Fields-Ertel Road.
In addition to Assurex, participating employers include AtriCure, the West Chester Township-based medical devices supplier; Madisonville-based Medpace Inc., which helps pharmaceutical companies manage research and clinical trials; Nitto Avecia, the Reading supplier of pharmaceutical ingredients; Kettering-based Mound Laser & Photonics Center, a laser processing company, Alkermes, a Wilmington-based drug manufacturer, and scientific staffing company Aerotek.
A range of positions are available, including jobs in the manufacturing, microbiology and biochemistry, information technology, marketing/sales, medical billing, engineering, administrative and customer support fields.
